I am very pleased to inform you that I have appointed Dr. Megan Farrell as permanent principal of the Oak Bluffs School. Dr. Farrell has been serving as the Interim Principal since January. Throughout this school year, she has exhibited excellent leadership skills and the ability to foster a positive and enriching school environment.
Dr. Farrell helped to navigate the transition from former principal Jacky Rizzo’s brief tenure. The school has not skipped a beat and has in many ways improved as it has reached a level of stability of which any school should strive.
Dr. Farrell has worked at the Oak Bluffs School for nineteen years, this last year as the Administrator for Curriculum and Support and Interim Principal. In this capacity, Dr. Farrell has made decisions that align with our core values as a leadership team; collaboration, trust, and responsibility. Dr. Farrell is student centered in her focus and professional in her manner. She is a true asset to the Oak Bluffs School community.
As a longtime administrator, I understand the need to find a talented and highly skilled school leader. I also understand the need of finding a leader that is the right fit for a school’s unique culture. In Dr. Farrell, the Oak Bluffs School has both. For this, I am very happy for this community and our entire school system.
I have received feedback of very positive support for Dr. Farrell from the Oak Bluffs School staff. This is a testament to the job she has done in supporting the school over the past year. Thank you to staff members and parents who have worked closely this year with Dr. Farrell to ensure a positive school experience for all of our students. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Matthew D’Andrea, LP.D.
