The Oak Bluffs School has created a MakerSpace dedicated to students designing solutions to problems through the application of science and math and by using the engineering & design process. This is the first MakerSpace on the island and is part of the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) initiative that the school has begun this year. The name MakerSpace is part of a bigger movement across the country and worldwide to create spaces in libraries and schools to allow students to design and create their own inventions. The curriculum is designed to foster collaboration between peers and teach strategies that help in communication and group problem solving. More information about what a MakerSpace is can be found at the following link:https://net.educause.edu/ir/library/pdf/eli7095.pdf
