Take a closer look at the night sky through stargazing and story telling. Mark Alan Lovewell will point out the cosmic happenings each month.

Join us for a night of nature trivia! Bring your picnic dinner and your team (including the little ones) and see how well you know our islands natural history and wildlife!

FULL MOON OWL PROWL

Hoo’s out there? Owls silently fly through our island woods and fields. Join us at Felix Neck for a bright moon walk about to look for, listen to, and learn about these nocturnal birds.

Community Evaluation/Avaliação da Comunidade

To Parents and Community Members:
The Martha’s Vineyard Public Schools have contracted with MedStar, an organization from Washington, D.C., to provide a comprehensive health and wellness evaluation of our community, schools, curriculum, and services, and to report on how to coordinate these services to meet the needs of our students.
There was an initial visit in November to meet with school personnel. A second visit is scheduled in March to meet with other stakeholders, and 3 meetings for parents and community members have been scheduled at the following times:
1. Wed., March 14 -- 3:00 - 4:30 PM in the High School's Library Conference Room.
2. Thurs., March 15 -- 9:00 - 10:30 AM in the High School's Library Conference Room. 3. Fri., March 16 -- 10:00 - 11:30 AM in the High School's Library Conference Room.

Space is limited so advance registration is required. Please register for only one meeting. Email Ruda Stone (rstone@mvyps.org) for advance registration.

Session III - After School Clubs

Here is the Session I1I list of non-athletic After School Clubs being offered by the Oak Bluffs School which will begin March 7, 2018.
                    
  • Clubs will run from 2:45 – 3:45p.m.
  • Snack - Students should bring a snack
  • Students must be picked up at 3:45pm in the lobby.
  • An After School Activity Permission Slip must be signed to participate in any club.
  • Club sign up is first come, first served. Students may sign up for no more than 2 clubs to allow all students an opportunity.
  • Clubs DO NOT MEET on half-days (March 14th, 4/24, 4/26 and 4/30)

Food Processors
The Food Processors is a healthy lifestyle after school club that explores the many areas of organic living through engaging with simple, wholesome ingredients and activities. We will be getting into delicious healthy recipes, making our own herbal products, and maybe even doing some yoga and gardening! Island Grown's Oak Bluffs Garden Educator Suzie Scordino and Harvest of the Month Chef Gabby Sullo will guide the club's activities with special guests along the way.

The Food Processors club is open to 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students after school on Wednesdays from 2:45pm-3:45pm in the Home Ec room. Our Spring Session will start up again on Wednesday, March 7th and go for 12 weeks, with the dates below. After the amazing Winter Session, we are so excited to begin again for the Spring Session!

Lego Club
Join your fellow budding builders as we build and share Lego creations. The goal of the club is to work both as an individual and as a team to develop projects, be creative, be imaginative and have fun! The last 15 minutes of Lego Club will be outdoor recess (weather permitting) on Preschool playground.
Taught by Julie Gaffey
Classes will be on Tuesdays

Grades K-1 Maximum 15 students    

Minecraft Education
This popular gaming software has created an educational version in which students can complete tasks, work collaboratively, and apply concepts.In this session, students will be tasked with completing a mission and solving problems to achieve success. Students should be aware that this will not be a free play time with the software, but has some structured aspects.

Students of all skill levels welcome.  Grades 4-8
                    
Class will meet on Tuesdays in the Tech Lab

Games Club
Board, card and themed games (Yu-Gi-Oh!) with Ms. Macias.

Gardening with Ms. Rollins            
Join your fellow gardeners and learn the basics and help work in our school garden and greenhouse.

Students of all skill levels welcome.  Grades 4 - 8

Sewing with Ms. Hall            
Join your fellow crafters and learn the basics of making Yo-Yo’s.  (A yo-yo is a circle that has the edge turned under and secured with a running stitch. Yo-yos can be added to bags, quilts, wall art, and more. Because they are sewn by hand, yo-yos are great portable sewing projects)

Students of all skill levels welcome.  Grades 4 - 8
                    
Class will meet on Wednesdays in the MakerSpace

Chess Club
Join our Chess Club with Mr. Brush.  Students of all skill levels welcome.  Grades 4-8

Class will continue to meet on Thursdays until 4/26/18

Writing Club
Join the new Writing Club with Ms. Nebel and help create our first ever student newspaper, written by and for our students. Take photos, write articles, learn about design and layout. Students of all skill levels welcome.  Grades 4-8
