Welcome back for another exciting school year at The Oak Bluffs School. Here in the library we are very excited to share time with our students. Time to read together, time to study together, time to research together, time to learn together... Our library is a place to come together! Our hope for all of our students is to foster the love of reading and to teach them research skills beyond just Google! We have a wealth of resources in our beautiful library space to help our students grow as learners.
Please take some time to navigate our website with your child. Our website has a LOG-IN capability so children can be interactive with our library website from home. They can check their library account and see what books they have checked out, as well as make lists of their favorites and even place holds on books.
By the end of next week, students in grades K - 3 will have their trading day posters and book bags in an effort to help them keep track of their library books so to have the opportunity to borrow new books each week. Please help your child(ren) find a place to keep their books at home and a place to hang their poster so trading days are fun days.
Stop by or give us a call if you’d like to volunteer to read with students on trading days. Our young ones love having an adult to share their books with; we love being able to provide this important reading opportunity for our kids.
Last year we circulated nearly 22,000 books! So if you’re more inclined to help shelve books we are happy to include you in our library family this way, too. Thursdays and Fridays are especially busy with returns.
We are looking forward to an exciting school year here in the library! Remember to read with your kids... read anything... picture books (even when they seem too old for them)... magazine articles... comic books... READ ANYTHING!!
