The library will be buzzing this morning with the excitement of the Geography Bee. Last year, the finals came down to two brothers and it was an fun conclusion. This year will surely bring fun and excitement to our students and staff alike.
We have been working in small mock caldecott committees with our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders in the last few weeks. The kids gather in small groups and they analize illustrations, read, and discuss likes and dislikes of new books published in 2017 and then vote for their favorites. We will be following the "real" caldecott winners from the "real" caldecott committee next month, but we will also publish our Oak Bluffs favorites (winners) when they have all had a chance to see every selected book. This is a fun time of year and we see the kids are really learning and beginning to understand how using color and art techniques can give a book a "feeling". Please ask your children about it.
We continue to foster the excitement of reading here in the Oak Bluffs School Library. Our volunteers are consistent and reliable and make reading fun each week for our younger students, and on any given day you can walk in and witness 3rd and 4th graders sunk down in a comfortable space reading a good book! This is a great place to be!
