8th Grade Poetry Café 2014

To all of you who were able to come to Poetry Café to support the 8th graders, thank you!
Below you'll find some of the poems our audiences wrote on the tables.

I am a river bed
A surprise of sparkle
and a leap of cool peach.

Love has a sweet
Joy does too
but being mean
is not nice.

Narrow routes
and miles to go.

A dreamer is happy and has no fear of the morning.

Mama said ashamed is where I live.

Dancing is my life
I’m strong and the leader
I can be free and
who I want to be.

You were invisible to me
at all the wrong
times. Deeper details
of you criss-crossed
my mind awakening
me.

From me,
pressure, praise
fail, secrets to implore.

You can not have
love without life
But there is no
meaning to life
without love

A ruby is red but very bright
It shines like a diamond in the light
I wish I could shine bright like a ruby
But I just stick out like a sore thumb
It doesn’t matter what people think of you,
It matters what you think about yourself.

Discover happy stars!

We may not be
friends today
But tomorrow could
go another way

Death is not as bad as it seems
Just a change from is to was.

When I look at the sky
When I look at the sea
When I look at the forest
I think of peace

Cool red
Cool blue
Cool green
Cool apples
Like I said,
Cool stuff!

You and I want each other without wounds
He never did rescue us
I can see the yellow lies frozen in time.

Close your eyes
Reach for the stars
This land is ours.

Fly away with the power of poems.
Never look down and keep writing.
Don’t let anyone stop you at all.

I am bright.
I am all the way around prayer.
I am driftwood on a creek.
I am the brown haired sister imagining tomorrow.

I would like to thank my arms for always
being by my side, my fingers because
I can always count on them and
my legs for always supporting me.

Written in these
walls are the
stories
I can’t explain . . .

The day is longer
without your poems
and performances.

The lifeline we have is up to us.

Roses are red
Violets are blue
and
I love Poetry Cafe!

Happiness is in the heart
not in the circumstances.
